During the detail in Somers, which was “conducted in furtherance of (New York State Police’s) mission to ensure highway safety for all users of the roadway,” on Wednesday, Feb.. 13, troopers issued a total of 54 tickets for speeding, distracted driving, and other vehicle and traffic violations on the interstate. Of the tickets dished out, 29 were for speeding violations, police officials noted.
The latest enforcement period comes after several others in recent months. Late last year, troopers issued 62, 52 and 74 tickets during separate details in Westchester. Earlier this year, a motorist who was busted driving nearly 100 mph was among 88 drivers issued summonses. Two others earlier this year net troopers more than 150 tickets for various violations.
